Wilson Silva Jr


Professor Wilson Silva Jr. holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine (Biology-Medical Modality) from the Federal University of Pará (1989), followed by a master’s degree (1993) and a Ph.D. (1999) in Genetics from the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (FMRP / USP). He is currently an associate Professor in the Department of Genetics of the FMRP/USP. He is a geneticist, with experience in human and medical genetics, working mainly in the areas of molecular genetics of monogenic and complex diseases, genetics of cancer, genomic medicine and bioinformatics. He is a principal investigator at the Center for Cellular Therapy, supported by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) and the National Institute of Science and Technology in Stem Cells and Cell Therapy, supported by the Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa (CNPq). Currently, he is also the coordinator of the Center of Genomic Medicine of the Hospital das Clínicas of FMRP/USP and of the Nucleus for Support in Research in Integrated Systemic Biology of FMR/ USP.
