Munir Skaf


Professor Skaf holds a degree in physics from the University of Campinas-UNICAMP (1984), PhD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook (1991) and postdoctoral fellowship from the Colorado State University, USA (1991-1993). He was previously a visiting professor at the Institute for Theoretical Chemistry, University of Texas, Austin-TX, USA (2000-2001). Currently he is a full professor of chemistry at UNICAMP as well Dean of Research at the same university. He has experience in the areas of physics and chemistry, with emphasis in theoretical chemistry. His current research interests are: molecular dynamics simulation, statistical thermodynamics, structure and dynamics of liquids, protein dynamics. He is also the scientific director of the [Center for Computational Engineering and Sciences](http://www.escience.org.br/), supported by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo – FAPESP.
